Quantifying glioma cell growth and invasion in vitro
نویسنده
چکیده
A mathematical model has been developed to describe and quantify the growth and invasion of gliomas (the most common type of primary brain tumors). The model has already been shown to agree well with in vivo imaging studies of gliomas. Here we demonstrate the model’s agreement with in vitro experimental data. The analysis provided in this article demonstrates that the model agrees well with published observations of growth and invasion of gliomas cells in culture. These in vitro results support the model’s utility in describing the behavior of glioma cells in experimental settings but also lends credence to the applications of the model to the in vivo setting. c © 2007 Elsevier Ltd. Altered Expression of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) in Glioma
EGFR is a key molecule in cancer cells. EGFR signaling was shown to promote tumor cell proliferation and survival, invasion and angiogenesis and mediate resistance to treatment, including ionizing radiation in preclinical models. We extracted proteins from astrocytoma (III and IV) oligodendroglioma(IV) tumors and normal brain tissues and then evaluated the protein purity by Bradford test ...
متن کاملEMT related lncrnas’ as novel biomarkers in glioblastoma: a review article
Glioma is the most common type of brain tumor and according to the 2016 WHO classification, based on invasion level, it is divided into four categories. The most severe and invasive type is grade IV glioma or glioblastoma (GBM), which has a very poor prognosis and a survival rate of only 15 months. However, the molecular pathway of invasion in malignant glioma tumors has not yet been clearly el...
متن کاملInhibition of glioblastoma growth and invasion by 125I brachytherapy in rat glioma model.
Development of the novel targeted therapies for glioblastoma multiforme is very important. Brachytherapy has been proven to provide a good alternative to surgical removal of the prostate, breast and cervix with reduced risk of certain long-term side effects. Thus, 125I brachytherapy was used to effect on the growth and invasion of glioma cells in vitro and in vivo. The inhibitory effect of 125I...
متن کاملNew techniques and methods in the study of the invasion, cell migration and MMPs activity in vitro and in animal models
Background & Objective: Cancer metastasis is the primary cause of cancer morbidity and mortality, it accounts for about 90% of cancer deaths. Cancer treatment has improved significantly, due to early detection and inhibition of cancer growth. The ability to invade and migrate is important in malignant tumor cells. The study of cell migration is valuable in cancer diagnosis, prognosis, drug dev...
متن کاملNEDD4-1 Regulates Migration and Invasion of Glioma Cells through CNrasGEF Ubiquitination In Vitro
Neuronal precursor cell-expressed developmentally down-regulated 4-1 (NEDD4-1) plays a great role in tumor cell growth, but its function and mechanism in cell invasive behavior are totally unknown. Here we report that NEDD4-1 regulates migration and invasion of malignant glioma cells via triggering ubiquitination of cyclic nucleotide Ras guanine nucleotide exchange factor (CNrasGEF) using cultu...
